RAGTIME - The musical
Based on the Novel by E.L. Doctrow
Adapted by Terrence McNally Lyrics by Lynn Ahrens / Music by Stephen Flaherty October 16th through November 8th, 2020 "A New World. A New Hope. A New Music." At the dawn of a new century, everything is changing… and anything is possible. Set in the volatile melting pot of turn-of-the-century New York, three distinctly American tales are woven together – that of a stifled upper-class wife, a determined Jewish immigrant and a daring young Harlem musician – united by their courage, compassion and belief in the promise of the future. Together, they confront history's timeless contradictions of wealth and poverty, freedom and prejudice, hope and despair, and what it means to live in America. A Lakewood Playhouse Premier |
Lakewood Playhouse
To the Seattle/Tacoma South Sound Theatre Community: We are listening and what we have heard raises concerns. We take such allegations seriously and will work to respond fully and appropriately. John Munn resigned as Managing Artistic Director on the 21st of July and the Board accepted his resignation, but are sufficiently concerned with recent reports that we will proceed as laid out by our policies as they pertain to harassment and discrimination linked HERE.
Regardless of an investigative outcome, the Lakewood Playhouse Board and Staff intend a total redress and training on our harassment and discrimination policies. This will include a public comment for additions and changes, and several members of the local community have already put forth suggestions to assist the Lakewood Playhouse in moving into the future as a community partner and ally. The Lakewood Playhouse strives to return to our purpose of creating engaging live theatre.

A Special THANK YOU to This Season's Sponsors
Lakewood Playhouse acknowledges that the land on which we stand today is the traditional home of the Coast Salish people, the traditional home of all tribes and bands within the Puyallup nation. Without them, we would not have this space to gather and produce performing arts.
