ANNUAL APPEAL 2025
Over the past twelve months we have re-engaged and expanded upon our mission to Build Community Through Theatre. We have welcomed audiences to Lakewood from across the state and the country, increased ticket sales by 43%, and revitalized our educational programming.
We believe Lakewood Playhouse can be a force for positive change in our regional theatre scene and become a cultural ambassador for our community. We are The Little Playhouse That Could. But we need your help!
With the launch of our 2025 Annual Appeal, we are continuing our 87th Season of plays that each tell a story of finding and using our voices to uplift each other, serve our community, and speak truth to power.
The Sound On Stage said about our season opener, The Revolutionists: "It’s a compelling opening to the season at Lakewood Playhouse, proof that under Joseph Walsh’s leadership, the organization is boldly stepping forward both artistically and thematically, carrying the momentum from last season’s The Spitfire Grill into a new era of thought-provoking and visually transformative theatre."
Our inaugural Festival Of New Voices brought together a team of over 50 people including playwrights, actors, directors and stage managers, and we were overwhelmed by the response to the sharing of 7 new plays selected from almost 200 submissions from across the country.
"I cannot recommend this organization highly enough. Their compassion and commitment to both their artists and their community are truly inspiring. I encourage everyone to support them in any way they can. I’m a grateful playwright with a very full heart." - Craig Houk - Playwright
We continue to grow and expand our education program, with all our classes, workshops and camps now under the banner of the Lakewood Playhouse Conservatory Of Performing Arts, with the intention of operating a second space all year round dedicated to education.
"I've learned so much and had fun every single day. I was given a new perspective on life because of it. I've learned that it's the process that matters more than the product, because if you focus on the process, the product will come naturally. I've also learned how safe the Lakewood Playhouse community feels with all of its regulations and rules. It makes me motivated to change the other communities I'm a part of to be just as safe." - Hadestown Teen Edition Scholarship Recipient
Ticket sales and education fees only make up a small portion of what it takes to run the Playhouse. In order to keep Lakewood Playhouse alive and continue on our journey we rely on the support of individuals like you. If you have the capacity to give even a little bit to help Lakewood Playhouse continue to serve its community we would be so grateful. If you have the capacity to consider a larger season or show sponsorship, please reach out to us directly for more information.
Our Annual Appeal 2025 is running now until December 31st!
