Lakewood Playhouse Youth Theatre
2007-2008

Ask about our new technical intern program! Students ages 13+ will have the opportunity
to participate in all games and exercises that each program offers. Instead of performing
on stage, they’ll have a key role in the technical requirements for the show:
costumes, light, sound, props, etc. Cost is 1/3 of regular tuition fee.

Feel free to register by phone with Education Director,
Maggie Knott (253)588–0042

:: Our commitment to community ::

Every year, the Lakewood Playhouse teaches hundreds of children from our local community important lessons about confidence, personal responsibility, working together and creative expression. These strong theatre skills are also important life skills. Plus, it’s a lot of fun! We have a scholarship program that makes it possible for us to enroll children –regardless of their ability to pay.

:: Performance Experiences & Acting Workshops::

Our performance-based programs are designed to immerse students ages 7 to 18 in a total theatre experience. During the classes and workshops, young actors explore all facets of theatre through the rehearsal and public performance of each fantastic story. All productions offer exciting opportunities for both actors and actresses, and provide an amazing chance for both beginning and experienced students of theatre.

General Youth Theatre Schedule:

Fall, Winter & Spring: Rehearse 2 hours a day, 2 days a week, for 6 weeks.
(after school from 4pm - 6pm)

Summer: 2 different sessions. Rehearse 2 1/2 to 3 hours a day, 4 days a weeks, for 3 weeks.

Throughout the year, Lakewood Playhouse offers many types of workshops for young actors. For the very young, we offer classes in creative expression and movement. For older students we offer our popular Youth Improv classes for students who want to sharpen their acting skills and flex their creativity and quick-thinking.

See the top of this page for current and upcoming opportunities.

:: School Day Performances ::

We have an exciting line-up of plays for this coming theatre year and I invite you to consider bringing students to one of four special school-time performances. This year we are featuring OUR TOWN by Thornton Wilder, and THE DIARY OF ANNE FRANK by Frances Goodrich & Albert Hackett, newly adapted by Wendy Kesselman.
