TWELFTH NIGHT By William Shakespeare

"Comedy, Love, Mistaken Identities and Moustaches...Who could ask for anything more?"

STUDENT/SENIOR MATINEE: TUESDAY,
NOVEMBER 27 at 10:00 AM

Like many of Shakespeare Romantic Comedies, this one centres on mistaken identity. The leading character, Viola, is shipwrecked on the shores of Illyria during the opening scenes. She loses contact with her twin brother, Sebastian, whom she believes to be dead. Masquerading as a young page under the name Cesario, she enters the service of Duke Orsino through the help of the sea captain who rescues her. Orsino has convinced himself that he is in love with the bereaved Lady Olivia, whose father and brother have recently died, and who will have nothing to do with any suitors, the Duke included. Orsino decides to use "Cesario" as an intermediary to tell Olivia about his love for her. Olivia, believing Viola to be a man, falls in love with this handsome and eloquent messenger. Viola, in turn, has fallen in love with the Duke, who also believes Viola is a man, and who regards her as his confidant.

JUST IN TIME FOR THE HOLIDAYS!

STUDENT/SENIOR MATINEE: TUESDAY,
DECEMBER 18 at 10:00 AM

"The Little Angels make a return visit to the Playhouse with their special spin on the Christmas Holiday!"

In this hilarious Christmas tale, a couple struggling to put on a church Christmas pageant is faced with casting the Herdman kids-- probably the most inventively awful kids in history. You won't believe the mayhem-- and the fun-- when the Herdmans collide with the Christmas story head on!
THE RAINMAKER by Richard Nash

"When 'The Rainmaker' comes to a drought-ridden farm, will he bring hope or a pocket full of empty dreams?"

STUDENT/SENIOR MATINEE: TUESDAY,
MAY 7 at 10:00 AM

At the time of a paralyzing drought in the West we discover a girl whose father and two brothers are worried as much about her potential future as an old maid as they are about their dying cattle. For the truth is, she is indeed a plain girl. The brothers try every possible scheme to marry her off, but without success. Nor is there any sign of relief from the dry heat, when suddenly from out of nowhere appears a picaresque, sweet-talking man with quite the sales pitch. Claiming to be a "rainmaker," the man promises to bring rain, for $100. It's a silly idea, but the rainmaker is so refreshing and persistent that the family finally consents, banging on big brass drums to rattle the sky. Meanwhile the rainmaker also turns his magic on the girl, and persuades her that she has a very real beauty of her own. She believes it, just as her father believes the fellow can actually bring rain. Rain does come, and so does love.
THE IMPORTANCE of BEING EARNEST
by Oscar Wilde

STUDENT/SENIOR MATINEE: TUESDAY,
JUNE 18 at 10:00 AM

"Falling in love with Earnest is easy. Finding out who he is really is will keep you laughing for hours."

In The Importance of Being Earnest, dashing men-about-town John Worthing and Algernon Moncrieff pursue fair ladies Gwendolen Fairfax and Cecily Cardew. Matters are complicated by the imaginary characters invented by both men to cover their on-the-sly activities—not to mention the disapproval of Gwendolen’s mother, the formidable Lady Bracknell.
