The Lakewood Playhouse
LIT Instructors are QUALIFIED, skilled artists and directors with extensive knowledge of the theatre industry at ALL levels. Each instructor is required to pass a mandatory background check and has a PASSION for teaching and performing arts.
LIT DIRECTOR OF EDUCATION
Jeremy is the Director of Educationfor Lakewood Institute of Theatre at Lakewood Playhouse. Jeremy is thrilled to be joining the Lakewood Playhouse staff and to bring over 21 years experience of working with youth in theater educational performance to the South Sound.
Jeremy has worked with such diverse companies as Live Theatre Workshop in Tucson where he served as Artistic Director, Fairbanks Shakespeare Theatre Company where he served as Interim Director of Education, The Village Theatre in Issaquah as an Instructor. He recently directed The Legend of Sleepy Hollow, Peter Pan, The Rude Mechanicals and A Year With Frog and Toad for LIT. He will be directing this summer's production of Godspell.
Jen Ankrum has been involved with LIT at the Lakewood Playhouse for over 10 years, which she can hardly believe.
Since her first production, she has directed a number of youth shows, including The Chronicles of Narnia for the LIT main stage, as well as become an active member of main stage production, serving as scenic artist, stage manager, prop master and occasional actress.
Jen will be co-directing and costuming this summer's 2nd Annual Radio Show.
Nena Curley graduated from the College of Idaho in May 2011 with a BFA in Theatre. Her focus was on Stage Management and she has put that education and experience to use in the South Sound working with many local theatre companies. Her most recent credits include Stage Managing The Miracle Worker, The 39 Steps, and They Mystery of Edwin Drood at the Playhouse. Nena is the past Production Manager for LIT and now serves as the Production Manager for Lakewood Playhouse.
Her gentle nature, fathomless patience and level headedness makes her a natural to be our instructor for Dinosaur Safari and her expertise in technical theatre are the perfect fit for Technical Theatre camp.
Deborah Lynn Armstrong
Debbie is the Production Manager for Lakewood Institute of Theatre at Lakewood Playhouse. Debbie brings her many years of experience to LIT. She has worked all over the PNW in Theatre Education and Musical performance.
Musical Director: Spamalot and The Mystery of Edwind Drood.
Instructor/Director: Musical Theatre Revue.
Debbie will be instructing Musical Theatre Technique, Musical Theatre Revue and will serve as Musical Director for Godspell this summer.
ASSISTANT STAGE MANAGERS
Cassie Fastabend has intensively studied theatre arts, screen acting, dance, voice, and music for over eighteen years. She has received professional training from TVI Actors Studio in Los Angeles, John Robert Powers Modeling and Talent Academy in Reno, Dance Teacher’s Training Camp in Boston, and the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts (“RADA”) in London. She has her Bachelors Degree in Theatre Arts from the University of Puget Sound and received scholarships in lighting and acting training throughout her four years at UPS. Most notable of these is the Theatrical Pedagogy Scholarship, which allowed her to serve as a mentor and liaison for the students as well as assist professors with teaching and academic evaluation. Cassie holds the 2015 Excellence in Theatre Arts award from UPS as voted by the faculty upon her graduation.
She played Jo in Little Women at the Playhouse this past season and will serve as Instructor for Preparing the Actor I and II as well as Co-Director for James and the Giant Peach this summer.
Kadi is entering her second year with LIT having served as Co-Director for Musical Theatre Revue and Stage Manager forThe Hobbit and The Legend of Sleepy Hollow, and A Year With Frog and Toad on the LIT mainstage. A skilled actress, singer and dancer Kadi will Direct this summer's Dante's Inferno. You may have seen her in recent productions of Spamalot and The Miracle Worker at the Playhouse.
Cori is studying theatre at PLU and joined the LIT team this past winter Directing The Hobbit and then serving as Stage Manager for Into the Woods, jr. You may have seen her in the recent production of 9 to 5 in Auburn. She will be the Stage Manager for this summer's Beowulf.
Coleman started his acting career with LIT and has gone on to become a favorite in the South Sound. You may have seen his work in A Year With Frog and Toad, Spamalot and Little Women recently at the Playhouse. For LIT he has served as Stage Manager for The Rude Mechanicals and Peter Pan, he was the Musical Director for The Emperor's New Clothes and Co-Instructor for Audition Camp.
Coleman will serve as Stage Manager for Preparing the Actor II and The Bard of Avon this summer for LIT.
Stephanie started her theatre career as a student with LIT. She has now gone on to pursue theatre in college at PLU and is also a skilled stage manager. Her attention to detail and commitment to the highest standards make her an excellent addition to the LIT team.
Marci has worked tirelessly heading up the costume department for LIT. She got involved with the Playhouse via her son Coleman who started taking classes with LIT. Her passion, compassion and talents are priceless to the success of LIT. You may have seen her incredible costumes in LIT's mainstage production of A Year With Frog and Toad.
LIT INSTRUCTOR and DIRECTOR
Trained professional actress, Rachel brings her experience working in the South Sound and NYC to LIT! She played TOAD in LIT's Mainstage production of A Year With Frog and Toad. She will be the instructor for Preparing the Actor III this summer.
Retired school teacher, award winning actor and Shakespeare aficionado. Steve currently starring in The Mystery of Edwin Drood at the Playhouse. You may have also seen him in last summer's smash production of Spamalot.
Steve will be the Instructor for The Bard of Avon... an overall crash course for ALL things Shakespeare.
Tracy is a brand new member to the LIT education team. She is a recent PNW transplant from California where she trained and worked as a professional actress, screenwriter and theatre educator. You may have seen Tracy in Tacoma Little Theatre's recent production of Fox on the Fairway. Tracy will Direct Grimm's Fairytales and Co-Direct James and the Giant Peach for LIT this summer.
This is Josh's 2nd year as a member of the LIT team. Last summer he Co-Directed Alice In Wonderland and Directed Knight's of the Round Table. Josh is a college student in Eastern Washington and will be directing this summer's Beowulf.
Dylan previously served as the Master Electrician for the Playhouse. He is the Technical Director at Charles Wright Academy. He will Co-Instruct this summer's Technical Theatre Camp.
James serves as the Marketing and Development Manager for Lakewood Playhouse. James brings his amazing collection of FOLEY sound effects equipment and vast knowledge of Radio performance to the 2nd Annual LIT Radio Show this summer.
LIT INSTRUCTOR and DIRECTOR.
John is in his 5th year of service as the Managing Artistic Director for The Lakewood Playhouse. Veteran Actor and Director, John directed countless productions including this season's productions of Glengarry Glen Ross and The 39 Steps at the Playhouse as well as Cabaret at Tacoma Little Theatre.
John brings his passion for youth theatre education to LIT. He will be teaching Musical Theatre Technique and Preparing the Actor IV this summer.
